We Have a Winner!
Congratulations to Samuel Echevarria, Jr, who won our High School contest and received a pair of tickets to the sold-out performance of Million Dollar Quartet at the Van Wezel on April, 8th. The contest asked – “Which star (including current celebrities) do you think would make a great addition to the Million Dollar Quartet collaboration?”

This was Samuel’s submission…

“If I could add my favorite music star to the amazing Million Dollar Quartet collaboration, it would be Little Richard.  I chose him because he is the heart and soul of rock and roll. He also wrote some of the greatest hits such as Tutti-Frutti, Long Tall Sally, Ready Teddy, Keep a-Knockin, Lucille, Good Golly Miss Molly, and many more. He was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and he also performed the cover version of Jerry Lee-Lewis hit song, Whole Lotta Shakin Going On. I think the voice and style of Little Richard combined with the legendary Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash would blend wonderfully with each other and add a nice style and harmony.  This is why I think Little Richard would be a great addition to the quartet.”

As you can imagine he was thrilled to win tickets to Million Dollar Quartet, and raved about the performance afterwards to our Director of Education & Community Engagement, Kelli Bragdon.

Kelli had the opportunity get Sej’s insight on a few other topics while he was here…
